Inpatient Services to Remain at EPC!

Welcome to SupportEPC; we need your help!!  On July 10 2013, the NYS Office of Mental Health released a “Centers of Excellence” plan which proposes the closure of adult and children’s psychiatric services at the Elmira Psychiatric Center.  While this plan calls for a welcome expansion of community/outpatient services (most of which EPC has already been providing), having inpatient services no closer than Buffalo is problematic in terms of access to care and family involvement.  In many indicators, EPC has proven itself as #1 among NYS OMH locations in terms of service delivery, efficiency and cost-effectiveness.  Although it’s clear OMH needs to downsize it’s operations, shouldn’t performance and efficiency matter?  We urge you to browse the information on this web site and get involved.
